Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan fined in IndiaMr Khan was detained earlier this month at Delhi airport for allegedly carrying a large amount of undeclared cash. His manager, Maroof Ali, who was detained along with him, has been fined an equal amount. They were stopped on their way to Dubai. They were later released but their passports were confiscated.


Officials said the $124,000 found on Mr Khan has also been confiscated. They said the singer and his manager would be allowed to leave the country once they have paid the fine. The incident has become headline news in India and Pakistan. Mr Khan, 37, has sung several Bollywood hits and performed in India in the past. He is the nephew of Pakistani singing legend Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
