Actress Penelope Cruz may be shopping for her wedding gown. Rumors have been circulating for months that Cruz and actor Javier Bardem have gotten engaged.
Neither has confirmed the rumor, but Cruz was spotted wearing a blue sapphire engagement ring during a recent appearance on "Late Show With David Letterman.
"They will marry very soon, maybe even over the holidays," says a friend to In Touch.
"Penelope's parents are conservative Catholics and are really pushing for her to get married. Javier would like to take things slowly, but Penelope wants to make her parents happy."
The insider also revealed that Cruz has been quietly visiting her favorite fashion designers to view pieces for the upcoming nuptials. The insider added, "Since she and Javier are from Spain, she'd love to have a Spanish designer create her dream gown."
The insider went on to reveal to In Touch that Cruz may be interested in the House of Balenciaga because the founder was from Spain. Actress Salma Hayek, a good friend of Cruz, recommended the designer and wore one of their dresses during her wedding to billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault in Paris in February. "Salma's dress was specifically designed for her by the company's creative director, Nicolas Ghesquière, and it was just beautiful," says the insider.
In Touch also goes on to say that while Balenciaga doesn't have a bridal line, they sometimes create original gowns for special VIPs and celebrities. "I'm sure they would be more than thrilled to create a gown for Penelope," says the source.
